Pour Your Heart Out...Workaholic Style

I am so thankful that Shell has started this meme because I know for sure that I might not have shared some of the things that I have in the past weeks on my blog without it. Thanks Shell!

This week's post is not too serious. Not too personal. Maybe not too interesting. Just being real mom.

So. Here it goes.

I have always enjoyed making my own money. Since I was 16 I had a job. I was a cashier at Safeway. Yeah. I know. G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S! Hey, I was able to buy my OWN clothes and not have to rely on mommy and daddy to hand over their credit cards.

I loved it. I felt independent.

Once I started going to school, I stopped working. But during that time, my mom also got sick. So I became her caregiver and took time off from school. Once she passed away, I threw myself back into work and school.

I trained from 5am-1pm, then I went to class, and then I got a second training job and worked from 6pm-10pm. Not sure I was loving it then. But it kept me and my mind busy from all my issues. I eventually finished school and went on to manage and pretty much worked non-stop up until Will was born. I even taught Kick Boxing when I was 9 months pregnant!

Anyway. Getting to my point. Fast forward almost 9 years. I am a part time in home Personal Trainer and Full Time Mom. I capitalize Full Time Mom because to me it is a job that deserves some respect.

I enjoy that I am able to make money and contribute to our family. I think if I didn't I would not feel good about myself, since I consider myself a workaholic. That's just me. Everyone is different. But for me, having my 15 hours a week to go out and train my clients keeps me feeling good about this whole mom gig.

Also, I don't feel guilty about the amount of time I may or may not be spending blogging and reading other blogs! :)

I love my family. I love my husband. I love my Willsey. And I love working. I can love it all and enjoy my bloggy cake too!

Don't forget to enter my FIRST GIVEAWAY HERE! Thanks...

It's all about choice, isn't it? Being able to choose how you spend your time...congrats on making it all work!

Mom is totally is a job title! I like my little out of the house time as well! If I didn't have to for financial reasons I probably wouldn't but I do enjoy the break :-)

Good for you. If I were a SAHM all the time, I would totally need that time for me to earn some money and have adult time.

Mmmmm....blog cake. I want some. Is that wrong?

Sometimes I laugh at myself for wanting to go to school for 9 years and then wanting to be a SAHM. Because the job that I want to have is going to require that much schooling, but I'm hoping that being a summer SAHM is going to fulfill the fix for it!

my good friend works part-time, and she swears she has the best of both worlds, and just enough of each to keep her sane.

I would LOVE to work PT. But with hubby's schedule it's pretty much impossible. To me, it's not about the money - it's about the independence, and feeling like I'm "doing something" other than laundry and changing poop!

You taught kick-boxing 9 months pregnant? You are wonder woman!!!

I would love to find something part-time. Dh actually had a suggestion for me tonight that I'm really excited about, but I'm going to wait to see if it works out to share.

I wish you were here and could be my personal trainer. I need someone to tell me what the heck I should be doing!

Thanks for linking up.

Good for you! I was laid off from work last year and have been looking for a new job. Part of me feels guilty but another part of me knows it will be good. I am looking for PT {like you} and think the time away will be a nice refresher for me. Glad it is working out for you!
