I See Me . . .

This post was suppost to be about my little guy's first day of 3's Preschool. But, as I loaded these pictures I realized something, he looks so much like me when I was a kid.

We have that same wide grinned smile, big blue eyes, and face shape. It's weird because I have never really noticed before because he is a boy, he does look a lot like his Daddy. But seeing this first picture, I realize that my little guy really is a spitting image of me. Too bad I don't have a lot of pictures of myself as a young kid, being the baby of 4 kids, the pictures sort of dwindled. Kinda stinks. I will have to find one and scan it so I can show you how much my baby actually looks like me.

Anyway. My Will had a great first unofficial day of preschool on Wednesday which is the picture below. He met his teacher and played, while we had an orientation with the director. All of his class mates from the 2's program are in his class which definitely helped with the transition. He also has the same assistant teacher as last year, who I love!

In this picture, it's the first official day of Preschool and he could not have been more excited and happy to be going to school! He woke me up each morning asking if it was time to go to school. Totally love his eagerness. He had about had it with pictures this week, so I told him to make me a silly face. He never disappoints. Hopefully he is not the class clown, although I wouldn't put it past him, because he is hilarious!

When we picked him up today, his assistant teacher said he did absolutely amazing! He was a good listener and played well with others. I was so happy to hear this and am so proud of my little guy.

I think this year is going to be wonderful for him not only in the learning department but socially as well. Can't wait to see what the future holds for my bright little star!

preschool mommys . . .

Will-z is on his third week of preschool and it could not be going better. The first week he ran into the class room. The second week, well there were lots of tears but he eventually stopped. This week I am hoping there will be a happy medium.

Getting to the preschool mommys. I thought by now I would have a play date set for him and some of his friends from school. But the mommys are somewhat anti-social. There is one mom that I talk to but her daughter and Will really do not play together.

So what do you do? Do you make the first move, even if the mom is standing there like she is running late for her hair appointment? I mean arms crossed, they look at you and you say hello but its a total blank stare.

This whole preschool thing is great but I really thought that Will-z and I would be making some friends. So far I am a total fail in that department.

Then to top it off Will-z is going to miss next week because he will be getting his tubes and then his adenoids removed. He only goes once a week, so everyday is precious.

Oh...Well. Just venting about the awkward moments of being a mommy to a preschooler.

He loved it !

As I told you guys last week, Will-z's first day of preschool was last Friday. I made sure to hype it up and make a point that he would be able to play with trains there and he was totally sold on it.

When we got there a friend of his was already there but was having a mini meltdown. His mom gave me a look, like you better keep on going because he is going to set Will-z off.

He was practically dragging me to his class room which I was relieved about. I handed his bag to the teacher and did not say a goodbye, who knows what Will-z would have done if I did.

Drop off = Success!

Picking up I learned that Will-z's friend set all the boys in the class off for a minute or so of whining but then they were all fine.

Us parents were waiting outside the class room and heard them singing a goodbye song, it totally melted us all! Then they send one kid out at a time and Will-z was lucky enough to be the first one out. When he saw me he came running! He had big crocodile tears and said, "I love you mama, I mist you!" Then the tears turned into a smile. Which made all of us moms start to tear up.

The best thing off all is that his teacher used to come to the gym that I managed! She is an awesome lady and such a great teacher, so that makes this transition so much better for me at least.

There might be tears shed every now and again but Will-z is on amazing journey, as is his mommy.

He's Going to Preschool . . .

He knows how to ride his tricycle.

He can almost count to 20.

He counts backwards from 10.

He is quite the lover of trains (as you all know).

He is very independent but occasionally he will give a snuggle away.

He loves putting things together, building and watching the way wheels turn. Then he will knock it down only to do the same thing over again.

He is strong willed and always determined!

He loves being around other kids and he is always considerate of their feelings.

He is my baby.

He is my sweetness.

He is my funny bubsy for sure. A real comedian.

Tomorrow, I hope is a day filled with fun and laughter, like this picture.

He is true to this picture, always jumping with both feet in. My little adventurer.

I love you Will-Z, as you like to call yourself these days, more than air.

Ready Or Not Here We Come...

Since we were up at the "butt crack of dawn"(just for you Brandi) again this morning, I am finding it so much easier to blog. Will is still half asleep drinking his milk and watching his morning train fix and I can blog. Perfect!

Although today when I got Will out of his crib he was pimpin' it with his pj's zipped down to his belly button! One day I will walk in and he will be naked. Guess I waited a little too long to go and get him this morning. Even though it was 6:30am! But he did let me snuggle with him for about 5 minutes, so that was totally worth the wake up call.

This past Monday we went to visit a Preschool near our house. I have always loved it from the outside and when Will was about 8 months old, I could totally imagine Will having a blast there and me becoming one of "those" moms. We got to meet the Pastor, who was super nice. Will was not too fond of him. But that is okay because Mommy and Daddy liked him and the director of the Preschool. I think we might have found our church! That makes me happy too.

Anyway the director took us to the 2 year old room, I was holding Will and all of a sudden he wiggled himself out and said, "WOW!" He instantly fell in love and so did I. He went and played with some of the children and tried to get in on the arts and crafts project they were doing. But I was so shocked! He did so amazing and did not cry or even look at me for re-assurance. He played well, he took turns, and he made himself comfortable.

Unfortunately the 2x a week class has already filled up but the 1 day a week class still has openings. Lew and I were both in agreement that this is the place for him. We just got that warm fuzzy vibe from them. The director said she could put us on the waiting list for the 2x a week class if someone dropped out. So that is nice to know we have that as well. When I told Will it was time to go, he wanted me to pick him up but then he said goodbye and waved to all his new friends. So cute! Lew was like can he start now? Oh, Daddy's. Sometimes they are clueless. Even if you do tell them this is for the next school year. We love him though.

So this Friday Will, will be officially registered for Preschool. I am so excited, but at the same time I realize my little bubsy is becoming such a big boy. A big boy that is super smart and ready for this adventure.

The Competition is Fierce Peeps...

Okay...not so great on the title but it is so true when looking for a Preschool in our area. Where we are...kids don't really go to public schools. Everyone goes to private. We are in a great school district for public schools don't get me wrong. It is just that everyone here sends their kids to private for some reason or another.

This is even true for Preschool! I am sorry but I do not want to see my little bubsy in a school uniform at the age of 2. For crying out loud, he has barely had time to express himself!

Case in point. I tried to join a local moms group. First off, nothing against any of these ladies but where I live, everyone is a bit upity-if that is even a word. So I knew it was going to be a challenge for me. I come from a middle class family and had to work when I was 16 for what I wanted. I think you are catching the drift. The mommy group didn't work for me. All they could talk about is so and so got in here and the uniforms are just so cute. Not for me.

Anyway. I started my search for a Preschool for bubsy. Believe me, I want the best for him. I want something small, intimate, a place where there is a comforting grandmother like teacher for him. When I was calling and setting up appointments for this week, I was shocked at what some of these schools cost for a 2 year old! For him to go twice a week, half days at a very prestigious school it was going to cost around $500 a month! That just seems a bit outlandish to me. Then I thought, okay he could do the once a week which might be better for him at first anyway. That is almost $300!

Then I decided I was going to skip out on the most prestigious and well known schools in our area. I am not one of those moms. I just want Will to find a place where he can learn and have fun. I found two local church Preschools that we often pass on our errand trips. They are much more reasonably priced and when I say that, they are not going to cost hundreds of dollars. No uniforms. They sounded like the experience I wanted for my bubsy. So this Wednesday we are going to go and visit their 2 year old classes, get a tour and all that jazz. I am looking forward to it. Finally.

My bubsy deserves the best and I hope I find it at one of these schools. With that said. What do you look for in a Preschool? What made you decide on a school or to even home school? Do you think a church Preschool is better than a private or vice versa. I would love to hear what you have to say.
